Johann L. Knollinger (Louis) purchased 22 acres on the Waters of Boggs Run on December 28, 1893. He bought the property from John Groppe, shown as "Gruppy" on this 1871 Map. This is the first property on Boggs Run deeded to the Knollinger family - at least with this spelling.
Louis sold 25 acres in 1906 to Hitchman Coal Company, and it is beyond the scope of this research to figure out where that came from; it might be recorded under a different spelling. In case a descendant wants to ponder the matter, here are the DEED INDEX pages for KNOLLINGER in the book at the Marshall County Courthouse.

Donald E. Knollinger, the son of Arthur Eugene and Eleanor (Flading) Knollinger, was a long-time genealogy researcher and frequent visitor to the Marshall County WVGenWeb site. He appreciated (and liberally used) the abundance of genealogical information on the site, and he became a member of the Marshall County Virtual Genealogy Society. At the age of 68, Don, formerly of Moundville, died suddenly on November 22, 2007 at his home in Summerfield, Florida. One legacy is his genealogy file, which he generously shared online: The Knollinger Family
Note: Don's online credit to author Virginia Jones Harper for A History of Boggs Run should be credited to Lori Cunningham Whitwam. She wrote the history about 1998; her fact source was Ms. Harper's book, Time Steals Softly.
