Ludwig (aka "Louis") Knollinger (1824-1899) - Photo taken in Germany before they left
for the States in the 1880s; he was Kaiser Wilhelm's coachman.
Richard Joltes submitted the photo & this file:
Johann L. Knollinger purchased 22 acres on the Waters of Boggs Run on December 28, 1893. He bought the property from John Groppe, shown as "Gruppy" on this 1871 Map. This is the first property on Boggs Run deeded to the Knollinger family, at least with this spelling. Johann L. was likely Ludwig or his son, Louis.
It is beyond the scope of this research to sort out the numerous property transactions. In case descendants want to pursue the research, here are the DEED INDEX pages for KNOLLINGER in the book at the Marshall County Courthouse.
According to Wilfred I. Myers, the Albert Knollinger property was previously owned by Bert McCoy. When Mr. McCoy lost the property to the bank, it was bought by Albert Knollinger. This is probably the 1944 transaction in Index 1 in which Citizens Saving & Loan conveyed 20 acres on Boggs Run to Albert and Marie Knollinger.
Mr. Myers indicated that the property across the road from Albert Knollinger, at the location of the county road that now goes up to Route 88, was owned by IKE Knollinger. [Does anyone know who Ike was?]
